DBSF acquired the Addfield group of companies in February 2023. Based in the UK, Addfield, which comprises Addfield Environmental Systems Ltd and Addfield Projects Ltd, employs 62 people across its two operating businesses. Addfield has a strong proven global reputation of designing, manufacturing and installing industry leading waste incineration systems to over 142 countries.  

Addfield has also recently begun to explore how it can evolve its existing technology to develop electric cremators for use with human remains. It is developing a design which is smaller and which will have significant benefits over current electric cremators as it will be possible for the cremator to be assembled inside the existing cremator building. This will make it particularly attractive to existing operators looking to switch from gas to electric cremators.

Acquiring Addfield ensures that the Darwin Bereavement Services Fund is well-placed to directly support the UK bereavement services industry as it works to achieve the emission reduction targets it has set by2030 and ultimately the UK Government’s 2050 Net Zero deadline.
